Movember

Back in November, six of our brave Suffolk Life blokes ditched their razors to take part in the annual event, Movember - a moustache-growing charity that raises funds and awareness for prostate cancer.

Our guys managed to raise £1,538 towards this great cause, well done!

Friday 19 November was the day of our Winter Ball. Through our auction, raffle and ticket purchase we managed to raise over £4,000 to go towards our EACH Corporate Challenge. This amount is continuing to rise as at least £2 of every Winter Ball portrait photo sold is going towards EACH.

Just some of the fantastic auction prizes included a Liverpool FC tour, a signed Arsenal pennant, a sailing lesson and tickets to an Andrew Lloyd Webber show. Everyone had a fantastic time, and the night was a great success.

Suffolk Life raises money for Children in Need

On 19 November, same day as our Winter Ball, Suffolk Life held a Casual Day to raise money for Children in Need. Overall we managed to raise £393.72. Well done everyone!

Scott Allan, a Senior Investment Administrator at Suffolk Life, recently won an award for passing the P6 (Advanced Taxation) paper from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Not only did he pass, he actually scored the highest marks in the whole world for this exam!

He was praised by Andrew Leck, head of ACCA UK, who said it was a "fantastic achievement".

"We pride ourselves on the technical ability and service that we provide to our clients and Scott's award is a testament to this dedication and commitment. We are delighted that Scott has been recognised not only internally but on a global basis; this is what makes a real impact on our clients and our business."

Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

On 29 October we took part in the Wear it pink Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign by encouraging all staff to wear pink as part of their clothing.

Amongst all the pink shirts, ties and skirts - and with Legal & General's generous price-match offer, we managed to raise £369.80 for the campaign.

Suffolk Life win TAS award

Wednesday 27 October was the night of Pensions Management TAS awards 2010. Despite our tough competition, we walked away proudly with a trophy for Income Drawdown & Phased Retirement, as well as being highly commended in our other entry categories, Bespoke SIPP and USP SIPP Drawdown. 

This means we have won a TAS award every year since 2006. This consistent recognition is a great reflection of our excellent product and an outstanding service.

Suffolk Life join the EACH corporate challenge

EACH’s hospice in Ipswich was opened in 1999 as a pilot project and demand has increased so much over this time that they have simply outgrown it. EACH were very generously donated a four acre plot of land on which they have obtained planning permission for a new 6 bedroomed hospice. They have just launched The Treehouse Appeal to raise the £3million required to be able to build it and need everybody’s help to make this much needed project come to life. This exciting project will enable EACH to provide more care to more families throughout Suffolk and North Essex so please help us to make the new hospice a reality.

Suffolk Life has pledged to raise £10,000 this year to help with the Treehouse Appeal by being part of the Corporate Challenge. Find out some of the things we are doing to raise the money by visiting our EACH Corporate Challenge web page.
